Class Two
Class 2 Teachers and Teaching Assistants
Class 2 contain some Year 1 children and all of Year 2. This class has two teachers over the week. Miss Hall teaches in Class 2 all day Monday and Friday as well as Wednesday and Thursday mornings and Mrs Atkin teaches all day Tuesday as well as Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
The children in Class 2 also have one teaching assistant Miss Fawcett who supports groups and individuals over the day.
General Information
We work on the development of our reading, writing and mathematics skills each morning and have a topic based afternoon session with a different focus for different subject areas over the term. These topics develop Scientific skills, knowledge of History, Geography and ICT and also include creative development (Art and DT).
We are fortunate enough to have an outdoor area or classroom which can also be used by children in Class 2 so the children have regular access to the outdoor area but usually only to complete a designated task or activity.
As a church school we place a strong focus on the development of their knowledge of the Christian faith and the appreciation and understanding of other religions. We say grace together at lunchtime and the children take turns to say a prayer to finish the school day.
Class 2 follows the whole school behaviour policy. Children are constantly praised and rewarded for excellent behaviour, work and effort in a variety of ways. They receive stickers and certificates and may be sent to Mrs Hewett to show her their work!
We have very high expectations for both their behaviour and their learning. They are encouraged to take responsibilities in the classroom. The children are given jobs such as ‘cloakroom monitor’ and everyone is expected to help staff to get out and put away equipment and to ensure that a classroom remains a tidy learning area.
What should your child have each day?
The children in the class are all required to bring to school each day:
- A pair of wellington boots for outdoor play in bad weather.
- A waterproof coat for outdoor play.
- A water bottle so that they can have quick and easy access to a drink whenever they want.
- Book bag, with reading book, library book and reading record book.
- Every child should bring their PE Kit to school on a Monday and leave it there all week.
